Mack's Story
There is always difficulty in talking about the road I took after High School. I started out to get myself lost in the California desert, but took a wrong turn and ended up in the jungle gettng high on the government's ticket. d of jumbled me up.
Spent the summer in Livermore after graduation then moved to the So Cal desert where my family had moved 6 or 8 months earlier. That fall my birthday came up in the draft lottery and being the coward that I was I wasn't going to Viet Nam to die, so I made one of the toughest decisions of my life: to cross the border 14 miles away into Mexico and become a draft dodger or enlist to do anything other than going to the Nam. I ended up doing the latter and somehow ended up in the Military Police in the Canal Zone, Panama [the perfect place for a pot head like me].
Fast forward 20 years and 25 different careers [ok, dead ended jobs] and I ended up in a VA facility in southern Oregon getting clean from the myriad of drugs I'd experienced. There is more..... but it is time for me to pursue something else today.
